The projection of evangelical videos and DVD’s (and some educational ones) with a video projector has been a very successful and effective means of communication. It is enabling us to proclaim the Good News in Christ Jesus to large numbers of people of all ages. This work has also been a very effective tool for teaching God’s Word, and in helping in general education. The videos are shown in churches and primary schools for all age groups, and it is greatly appreciated by the people of Mozambique.

During the course of this work one video that is often shown is the well known film ‘Jesus’, based on Luke’s Gospel. The film is mainly shown in the Sena language (spoken in the centre of the country), but from time to time we project the Portuguese and Shona version of the film, depending on where we are working.
Right - A typical scene in a rural church, with adults and children sitting, or standing, to watch the Jesus film. Note the projector on top of the blue box., and the sound equipment, plus video and DVD player, piled up beside the box.

Like the Scripture cassette recordings, this very effective visual aid has being a huge help in opening up more of the Bible. We project this film in the rural areas where Bibles are often in short supply, and where there are people who are unable to read. During the years we have been showing this film we have seen literally thousands of people coming to watch it. So we always have to show the film in the open air to accommodate everyone.
Left - Another look at the crowds. Note the women with the baby on her back, she stood with the baby through out the whole two hour long film; such scenes are normal. Note the projector screen just in front of our Land Rover which supports the loud speakers. The people here call it cinema, may be not quite up to the standards of the Odeon or ABC cinemas, but still very effective, and the crowds would fill a cinema several times over.

Besides the work with the Jesus film, other films are also shown for both adults and children. All with the aim of teaching more of God’s work. These are mainly projected in churches and primary schools. Educational films are also sometimes projected.
Right - Before the projection of the Jesus film, a children’s film is also shown. These are carton films which also teach the Bible. A carton figure can just be seen on the projector screen.
The use of the videos is a very powerful form of communication. We thank God that recently we have been able to purchase a new projector that has enabled us to increase this work, and increase the quality of it.
