Project Mozambique
Working with the churches of Mozambique as they seek to serve their local communities
Registration charity - 1074456
This work involves recording parts of the Bible in local languages for people who are unable to read; then distributing the recordings to rural churches with MP3 players that have no need of batteries, nor electricity, as they can be powered by hand. We are doing this work in partnership with Good News Media of South Africa who supply us with the materials.
Good News Media
As mentioned above, we do this work together with Good News Media (GNM), an organization based in South Africa, and which produces many recordings in a large number of mother tongue. This is the organization which supplies us with the Sabers, recordings, and the very effective colourful flip charts. It has been a great benefit and encouragement to work together with GNM. In addition to the Sena recordings, GNM also has recordings in other languages for Mozambique, all of which opens up the Word of God to many people who are unable to read. We have stocks of all the above mentioned material for churches and missions, if any one is interested in obtaining this material for their work then please contact us for further information.

In the photo on right, two of the MP3 players can be seen that we are distributing. One is being held by the pastor with the red shirt, while a second one can be seen on the table. This machines are known as ‘Sabers’, and are replacing the tape players that we have been distributing previously. One of the good things about this new machines is that we can load new recordings from a lap top (such as seen on the table where a Saber machine is connected to the lap top).
This material is distributed by Inácio who is a member of Project Mozambique’s team. The Sabers (one can be seen just on the right) are powered by batteries that can be recharged by winding a handle, or with solar power. Though smaller than the tape players they produce very good volume, and can contain a good number of recordings.

As well as the Sabers we also distribute flip charts that illustrate what the people are hearing on the tapes, and so provide a very simple, but very effective visual aid. This is of great value in the rural churches where there is a high number of adults who are unable to read. It also provides an effective tool for both evangelism and teaching of the Bible for both young and old.
In the rural areas this work is very important because the Word of God can inspire hope in people, and that hope enables people to face the many difficult challenges that they have to deal with. So for those people unable to read, the tapes help to open up the Bible and so provide them with greater access to God’s Word. That in turn will always inspire faith. As the apostle Paul wrote: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. (Romans 10 v.17)
